THE EVENT
On Saturday 10 May Philip Quast and lots of other musical theatre performers (including "Old Friends" Summer Strallen, Louise Gold & Caroline Sheen) paid a visit to the Dress Circle Musical Shop in London to serve as "extra staff" for the day, meet fans and sign autographs. The event was organised in aid of The Theatrical Guild; donations were welcome and £1.00 of every item sold was donated to TTG.
Detailed account of the event by Emma Shane (reading strongly recommended!)
SHORT REPORT by Eli
PQ turned up shortly after noon, riding his stunning black bike, and was immediately (politely) surrounded by several fans willing to have their material signed. It was very warm inside the shop, but PQ took the time to sign every single item, have a bit of a chat with all his "customers" and pose for pictures.
He was delighted to hear that many of us had attended and LOVED his 'Tsunami' performance the night before (He added that he would have liked to "act the piece" even more, but there wasn't enough room on the Barbican Hall stage to allow him to do so).
PQ was later called outside for a rather long video interview (see link above), during which he took the time to explain the event's objective in aid of the Theatrical Guild, and then posed for some press photos together with Alan Dale and Summer Strallen.
Big thanks to Kat, Emma, Freddie & Phoebe for their precious cooperation & to Chris (DC staff) for his patience! |
THE THEATRICAL GUILD
The TTG was founded in 1892 and is one of the longest serving theatrical charities that uniquely offers support and financial help to anyone who is or has been engaged in the professional theatre, ie. not only performers, but also Backstage & Front of House staff.
Financial support, regular grants and one-off grants are given to members of the profession who are unable to manage through ill-health or following accidents.
Actress Liz Robertson is the current Chairman of the Guild. |
