The cast's 16 chimney sweepers lined the stage at Her Majesty's Theatre yesterday for the first sneak peek of what's in store when it premieres next Thursday.

Co-producer Cameron Mackintosh said the "dream Australian cast" would be putting on the finest production of Mary Poppins anywhere in the world.

Tourism and Major Events Minister Tim Holding said the six musicals starting in Melbourne this year were worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the economy.
