In years gone by Sydney has had the dubious distinction of being a city that closes or demolishes its theatres. But a year ago, amid the redevelopment of Walsh Bay as a glamorous waterfront district, a new theatre emerged to give cause for celebration.
The striking edifice of glass and stone simply named the Sydney Theatre has become a vital part of the city's entertainment fabric in the past year with its eclectic roster of drama, music, dance and comedy.
