PHILIP QUAST LIVE AT THE DONMAR
by Sue

Having left it too late to 'get in first' and rave with new and interesting comments, all I can say is I feel so grateful to Philip for baring his soul to us all - especially when he's aware of how interested we all are and the risks he may be taking. He was sharing with us what it feels like to be a father; a son; a husband; a man; himself!! What a privilege! To hold the stage for 2 hours alone (apart from the music men of course - as he pointed out himself near the start) must be so challenging. To be there with him was challenging - not an easy ride at times. Heart-rending, hilarious, yo-yoing up and down like the best roller coaster in the world. So hard to get off ! Never have 2 hours flown so quickly. Philip was obviously enjoying himself too. At one point he said it felt like a party - and it did. Family and friends together: celebrating the life and achievements of a special person. The atmosphere was terrific. It'll be fascinating to see whether anything changes as the week progresses. I'm so grateful that I'm able to go again. Wish I could make all six! I think he will surprised by the consistency of his audience - we'll be like a pack of cards, shuffled each night!!
