During the interval for Evita, someone came up to me and declared: "This must feel like how it was discovering Barbra Streisand after Funny Girl."
It's the kind of show-queen comment you expect at the first night of a big musical, but I knew what the guy meant — even though I was just a Bamibaby back in 1964 when Streisand hit the big time.
