Here are just a few more moments from the 10th Anniversary Concert that I just had to share. I just noticed the moment of his first appearance during 'Look Down', when he suddenly stands from his chair and strides purposefully to the microphone, already fully in character before he has even reached the mic. The camera is overhead (look down, get it!) and captures the whole character he has created in Javert with just the forcefully walk forward and incredible body language.
Also breath taking is his appearance following Fantine's death. Valjean is on one side of the stage and the spotlight suddenly hits PQ on the other side of the stage like he's just appeared out of no where, exactly (and ominously) as it must have appeared to Valjean. I couldn't help but think, "uh oh," when I saw him. So powerful!
Also at the end of the first act when all the actors are making their way off stage from the left and right, and meet to form a single line behind the row of chairs to get offstage, someone is right in the center of the stage, but if you peak in back of him, you can see where Javert from the left and Grantaire from the right, meet in the center and kind of do an "after you, no, no after you," type moment. I don't know why I love that so much!
I also love the shots of him still sitting right before he does 'Stars'. It's the only time you see him holding his hat on his knee, having his props, and getting ready to perform. Holding that hat is just so romantic and 19th century!
I finally found the moment when he moves something off stage at the very end. It looks like a woman has come forward during the curtain call and tossed an envelope to Michael Ball which ends up at MB's feet. I wonder why he didn't pick it up? Maybe he knew the woman! Anyway, I guess PQ was trying to tidy up before the Valjean parade began and it looks like he maybe placed it on top of one of the amps so no one would step on it or slip.
